IS DIABETIES A SILENT KILLER?

Diabetes knows no race, age or color, you may never see it coming because it strikes without warning.  It has been called the destroyer, because it can destroy the major organs in the body and if left untreated it can kill.

Types of Diabetes
Type 1 - although usually diagnosed in childhood, many patients are diagnosed when they are in their 20s. This type is normally treated with insulin injection.

Type 2- is far more common than type 1 and makes up most of the diabetes cases.  It usually occurs in adulthood and young children and teens are also sometimes diagnosed. With the type 2 diabetes the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to keep the blood glucose level normal.  The reason why diabetes can be called a silent killer is because many people with type 2 diabetes  are unaware that they have it and by the time it is discovered their body organs have already been affected with little hope of repair.

Factors that contribute to Diabetes
Some of the factors that contribute to someone getting diabetes are poor diet, obesity and lack of exercise. It is hereditary too.

Symptoms of Diabetes
Symptoms of diabetes include high blood levels of glucose which can cause problems such as blurred  vision, excessive thirst, frequent urination, hunger and weight loss.

Please check your sugar level to know your status, if you have it do what is necessary to keep it under control and if you do not have it maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent it.  Let  us do the right thing so that if you have diabetes it will not be silent killer to you.
